The foods you eat during your pregnancy have a large effect on the health of your baby.  The good news is, if you choose to eat healthy, balanced meals while you are pregnant, your baby is much more likely to be healthy also!  But there are food choices you can make during your pregnancy that can harm your baby.  These bad food choices are the ones you do not want to make.

While it may seem hard and confusing to figure out what foods to eat and what foods not to eat, you will learn how to plan your meals with good food choices for you and your baby.  You can do it, and you are not alone!  Together we are going to prepare you for eating well during pregnancy.

Take a few moments to write down your personal reasons for wanting to eat well during your pregnancy.  These might include better health for yourself, better birth outcomes, and better health for your baby.  If you know the reasons that you are trying to eat well during your pregnancy, you will be more likely to stick with your food plan and dietary recommendations.

Now that you have this list of reasons for eating well, put it in a safe place and be sure to look at it from time to time during your pregnancy.  This will help keep you motivated along the way!
