National Committee on Quality Assurance (NCQA) Diabetes Recognition
The primary care providers of UniversityCare, LLC and the specialists at the University of Maryland Center for Diabetes and Endocrinology have received the National Committee on Quality Assurance (NCQA) Diabetes Recognition, joining an elite group of physicians across the country who share this honor.
The NCQA awards its Diabetes Recognition to top clinicians who have demonstrated a high level of performance in delivering care to patients with diabetes. The NCQA seal is a widely recognized symbol of quality, indicating that UniversityCare physicians exceed evidence-based measures in the safe care and treatment of diabetic patients.
Diabetes affects an estimated 23.6 million Americans, but almost one-third of these individuals are unaware they are living with this disease. This fact is especially alarming considering that complications from diabetes can include heart disease, stroke, blindness and kidney failure.
In order to attain this recognition from the NCQA, each physician had to submit records of their patients that demonstrated evidence of HbA1c control, blood pressure control, LDL control, smoking cessation advice or treatment, foot exam, eye exam and nephropathy assessment.
UniversityCare providers have been providing excellent, family-oriented care to the communities of West Baltimore, Central Baltimore and Anne Arundel County for many years. We are a family-oriented health center in your neighborhood, where you need us most.
