About Us

Founded in 1968, the University of Maryland Medical Center's (UMMC) Division of Transplantation has a national reputation for compassionate care, innovative techniques and surgical excellence.

Our teams of transplant surgeons perform more than 450 transplants each year. As one of the busiest transplant centers in the country and the largest program in the state, we have the experience to offer you expert surgery and the compassion to care deeply about you and your family throughout the process.

Our patients’ outcomes – measured by their health and transplant success after surgery – are very good and consistent with national averages.
