Sleep Medicine Fellowship
The field of sleep medicine has been a fast growing multidisciplinary field for the past 20 years. There are 58 specific sleep related diagnostic codes and 18 specific procedure codes. There have been remarkable advances made in this field as a result of research conducted in its participating disciplines, which include internal medicine, pediatrics, adult and pediatric pulmonary medicine, neurology, psychiatry, otolaryngology and dentistry. Because of this growing body of specialized knowledge, specific board certification has been developed by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Fellowships leading to board eligibility are now accredited by the American Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).
The reader is referred to additional documents available for downloading from this web site which describe general material for all fellows at University of Maryland. The ACGME document outlines the requirements for the fellowship (all fulfilled by the University of Maryland), the application form itself, and the other documents to be enclosed with the application materials.
