Observation Programs at Shock Trauma

We enjoy providing our EMS observers with a stellar experience here at the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center. Part of that experience is the ability to have detail interactions with our providers. Currently, we are preparing for a major change in our documentation system requiring education and time of our providers. During this transition, we feel that observers will not reap the benefit of provider interaction. For that reason, there will not be the opportunity to observe during October, November, or December of 2015. We welcome observers after the first of the year!

Do you ever wonder what happens after your patient arrives at the Shock Trauma Center?

The Shock Trauma Center is dedicated to the education of the prehospital providers of our state. Our office offers clinical observation experiences in the Trauma Resuscitation Unit (TRU), Neurotrauma Critical Care Unit and the Multiple Trauma Critical Care Unit. These programs are designed for observational purposes only and restricted to MD EMS Providers.

Rotations in the TRU are available Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 3 p.m. to 11 p.m. or 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.

Rotation in the Multiple Trauma and Neurotrauma Units are available Wednesday and Friday, 3 p.m. to 11 p.m.

To schedule an observation, please review the Observational Offerings letter and return the documents below to
