Letter from the Division Director

Dear Families and Practitioners:

David Pruitt, M.D.

As a child psychiatrist and a father of two, I am more than excited to share with you the wonderful treatment options for your children and our patients. We at the University of Maryland Medical Center's Division of Child & Adolescent Psychiatry are here to offer you the finest specialized mental health care for newborns and children up to 18 years of age.

My colleagues and I have worked hard to develop specialized treatment settings that are designed to meet the clinical and medical therapeutic needs of children suffering from mental health disorders. We work as a team so your child gets the benefit of some of the best clinicians and treatment approaches available.

We understand how complicated this process can be for you regardless of your status as parent or practitioner. Simply put, it's overwhelming. Please take a minute to review this Web site. Call one telephone number -- 410-328-1111 -- and we will help you make the decision that is right for you and the child in need of treatment. If we can't help you, we will try to find someone who can. I am confident that by working together, we can give you and your child treatment options that will make a difference to the entire family.

Best regards,

David B. Pruitt, MD
