Child Day Hospital
The Child Psychiatry Partial Hospitalization Program serves up to 12 children a day, five days a week (Monday through Friday). The average length of stay can vary from three weeks to one month.
The program provides treatment to children in the Baltimore City area, ages 5 through 12, who are experiencing mental illness, behavioral difficulties, and significant dysfunction at school, home or in the community.
Scope of Services
The Child Day Hospital provides children ages 5 through 12 with assessment and treatment for a wide variety of mental health issues. Often, children are faced with emotional conditions in addition to various learning, language, speech, and other developmental disorders. Children with more than one mental health disorder, co-morbid illness, are diagnosed and treated within our program.
Unlike any other child psychiatric program in the region, the Child Day Hospital offers an extensive treatment period which is approximately three weeks in length. During this time, our team develops and provides an effective understanding of the issues and a treatment plan for the patient and his or her family. If a child needs stabilization in a more intensive setting, the Child Day Hospital offers direct admission to our own Short-Term Inpatient Hospitalization Program in collaboration with our Psychiatric Assessment and Referral Center (PARC) office.
Patients in the Child Partial Hospitalization Program receive:
Multidisciplinary Treatment Team
Psychiatrists, psychiatric nurses, social workers, licensed clinical counselors, occupational therapists, child psychiatric residents, speech and language therapists, Baltimore City school teachers, psychology interns, and mental health associates all work collaboratively within this multidisciplinary milieu.
