University of Maryland Sheppard Pratt Residency
Letter from the Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry
Our exciting Residency Training Program is geared toward providing the most comprehensive experience possible for our residents.
We pride ourselves on offering a balanced training approach. Here, you will have ample exposure to neuroscience, psychopharmacology, psychotherapy, and opportunities to work and train with world-class researchers in all modalities that you may be called upon to practice.
You also will have the opportunity to participate in electives with specialist centers around the world in the major areas of psychiatry.
Our program is based at the University of Maryland Medical System and at the Sheppard and Enoch Pratt Hospital. The training program is part of the historic "Maryland Plan," a collaboration between the State of Maryland and the University. The University of Maryland Medical System is a private, nonprofit medical center, affiliated with the University of Maryland School of Medicine.
Sheppard Pratt Hospital, one of the first private psychiatric hospitals in the United States, is ranked among the top ten psychiatric treatment systems nationally. Additionally, we have affiliations with many other area facilities to provide both residents and fellows with a diverse selection of training opportunities.
I encourage you to visit us and discover firsthand the variety our residency training program offers.
I shall very much look forward to meeting you.
