Assistant Professor of Orthopaedics
Orthopaedic Residency Director

Dear Applicant,

Thank you for your interest in the Orthopaedic Surgery Residency at the University of Maryland. The mission of our program is to provide our residents with the highest quality educational experience in a diverse academic community while promoting outstanding patient care and supporting the pursuit of new scientific knowledge to improve the clinical outcomes of our treatment of musculoskeletal disease.

We in the Department of Orthopaedics believe that excellence in patient care is of the utmost importance and is inseparable from the resident educational experience. With our full-time academic faculty and numerous volunteer faculty, our program provides the residents with exposure to the full scope of orthopaedic disease, mixing both apprenticeship and service-based rotations to maximize the resident experience. Each rotation has a service-specific educational conference in addition to weekly Departmental conferences and a didactic curriculum that runs weekly in a 2-year cycle. Residents are relieved from non-emergent patient care each week during the didactic sessions. The Department has an active research program in both basic science and clinical research. An intra-departmental grant funding program is in place to assist residents in completing research, and the Department supports residents for presentations at national meetings.

Our residents graduate having experienced the breadth and depth of orthopaedics and are accepted into top fellowship programs throughout the country.
