Welcome to the University of Maryland Department of Orthopaedics, where we take pride in providing the most comprehensive multidisciplinary care for musculoskeletal conditions in patients of all ages in an environment that encourages and nurtures a spirit of inquiry and supports education.
All of the physicians within our department have completed subspecialty training and are recognized experts in their respective fields of orthopaedic practice. The expertise of our physicians covers the full range of orthopaedic subspecialties including foot and ankle, hand surgery, total joint replacement, spine surgery, shoulder and elbow, orthopaedic traumatology, pediatric orthopaedics and sports medicine.
Our department has been recognized both regionally and nationally for its strong educational and research programs as well as providing the highest quality patient care. In 2010, UM Orthopaedics was named a Blue Distinction Center by CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield. Moreover, University of Maryland Orthopaedics has played a prominent role in providing physician leadership to the national orthopaedic community.
