The Maryland Center for Multiple Sclerosis at the University of Maryland Medical Center was founded in 1982 as a center for comprehensive patient care and advanced research into the cause and treatment of MS. The Center has a team of expert doctors, nurses and research support staff that function in concert to provide "cutting-edge" treatment of the disease. Through the center, a full range of services is utilized to help in the diagnostic process and treatment choices. Specialists in therapy, radiology, urology, psychology, and rehabilitation participate in the care of those affected by MS.
The goals of care at the Maryland Center for Multiple Sclerosis are to promote and maintain independence. All practitioners at the Center work to assist individuals and their family members to live life to the fullest. Individualized plans of care are developed to meet the many challenges of MS.
The Maryland Center for Multiple Sclerosis is affiliated with the Maryland chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and is a member of the Consortium of Multiple Sclerosis Centers. The Center also receives support for US Against MS, a regional organization that aids MS patients.
