University of Maryland Division of Cardiac Surgery
One Program, Two Locations.
The University of Maryland Medical Center and the University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center have joined services and are now one Division of Cardiac Surgery, providing the most advanced cardiac surgery care and life-saving research in Maryland. With one program at two locations, patients can be seen and treated at both the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) in Baltimore and the University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center (UMSJMC) in Towson.
The University of Maryland Medical Center continues to offer all levels of cardiac surgical care with an emphasis on performing the most complex surgical cases, while the University of Maryland St. Joseph Medical Center enables more patients to benefit from high quality cardiac surgery in the Towson area.
In cases of time-sensitive cardiac emergencies, patients may be evaluated quickly at the University of Maryland’s Critical Care Receiving Unit (CCRU), the nation’s first of its kind intensive care unit designed to rapidly evaluate, begin therapy, and admit patients with time-sensitive illness to either UMMC or UMSJMC.
Patients seen at either location of the University of Maryland Division of Cardiac Surgery will be treated by highly trained surgeons who utilize the most advanced technologies and minimally invasive techniques to perform life-changing surgery.
The University of Maryland Division of Cardiac Surgery is proud to provide the highest quality of cardiac care to patients throughout Baltimore and all of Maryland.
