Maintaining a heart-healthy, balanced diet will help to...

  • manage stroke and heart-attack risk factors
  • prevent or manage other chronic diseases
  • assist in losing weight and boosting energy
  • promote overall good health

Get appropriate exercise:

Making time for physical activity is a vital link to reducing your chances of having a heart attack. Years ago, people remained on their feet and active throughout the day. Today, we lead a much more sedentary lifestyle, as a whole. We sit in our cars going to and from work or school, and even drive thru banks and restaurants. At work, many of us sit behind our desks letting telephones and computers handle the activities.

Today, you have to schedule a time to exercise, and making time for physical activity is a vital link to reducing your chances of having a heart attack. Choose an activity that you enjoy doing, then talk with your doctor about an exercise plan that meets your individual capabilities and needs.

An exercise program will help in the management of almost all stroke and heart attack risk.
