Cardiac Cath Lab Research Activity

Interventional Cardiology research at the University of Maryland is designed to contribute to the advancement of interventional therapies for patients.

Cardiology fellows are to be aware of all on-going studies and are to consider each patient for an appropriate study. The fellows are expected to be HIPAA compliant and IRB trained.

Various studies include the focus of acute myocardial infarction, unstable and/or stable angina, IVUS, new devices (radiation, sonotherapy, stents, PFO, etc.), genetics, drug therapy (IIb/IIIa, contrast agents, etc.) and registries. The focus of some trials may incorporate other disease processes, such as renal and diabetes, with cardiac and to evaluate patient outcomes.
