Curriculum

The Family Medicine curriculum is designed to encompass an array of disciplines in the first year. As residents progress, more time is allotted to the University Family Medicine, our Family Health Center. First year residents spend 1 half -day per week at the Family Health Center- UFM. Second year residents have 2-3 half-days each week and third year residents have 4-5 half days and an evening session each week at UFM.

Year One

  • Orientation - 2 weeks
  • Adult In-Patient Medicine - 8 weeks
  • ICU - 4 weeks
  • OB/GYN - 8 weeks
  • Outpatient Peds - 4 weeks
  • Inpatient Peds - 4 weeks
  • Peds ER - 4 weeks
  • Nursery - 4 weeks
  • Family Medicine Inpatient Service - 10 weeks
  • UFM - 4 weeks
  • Nutrition - 2 weeks
  • Practice Management - Longitudinal

Year Two

  • Adult In-Patient Medicine - 8 weeks
  • Research - 2 weeks
  • UFM - 4 weeks
  • OB on our Family Medicine Inpatient service - 4 weeks
  • Family Medicine Inpatient(University) - 4 weeks
  • Behavioral Science - 4 weeks
  • Outpatient Surgery - 4 weeks
  • Adult ER - 4 weeks
  • Orthopedics - 4 weeks
  • Cardiology - 4 weeks
  • Elective (Home) - 4 weeks
  • Procedures - 2 weeks
  • Night Float - 2 weeks
  • Practice Management - Longitudinal
  • Long Term Care - Longitudinal

Year Three

  • Family Medicine Inpatient - 8 weeks
  • Peds ER - 4 weeks
  • Community Medicine/PCMH - 4 weeks
  • Sports Medicine - 4 weeks
  • GYN - 4 weeks
  • UFM - 4 weeks
  • Urgent Care - 4 weeks
  • Electives - 12 weeks (2 home & 1 away)
  • Practice Management - Longitudinal
  • Behavioral Medicine - 4 weeks
  • Geriatrics - 4 weeks
  • Night Float - 2 weeks
  • Long Term Care - Longitudinal
