Application Process - Diagnostic Radiology Residency | University of Maryland Medical Center

All applications must be submitted through the Electronic Residency Application Service [ERAS]. Information regarding this process can be obtained from the deans' offices of all United States medical schools or from the Education Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates. Applications are accepted from both senior medical students and graduates of approved medical schools with house officer training.

For this year's ERAS cycle, our program will be collecting and reviewing data from applicants’ supplemental ERAS applications. Completion of the standard MyERAS application is a requirement; completion of the supplemental ERAS application is optional but is encouraged in order to assist us in finding applicants that fit our program’s setting and mission.

Seven to ten first-year Diagnostic Radiology residency positions are available per year depending on a variable number of Integrated Interventional Radiology residency positions offered, and all are filled through the National Residency Matching Program. A year of clinical internship is required before beginning radiology residency.

All graduates of foreign medical schools must have passed Parts 1 and 2 of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) prior to application.

This program receives approximately more than 100 applications per position available in any year. Approximately 15% of those with completed applications are interviewed. There is no quota for accepting University of Maryland students. The department does not regard race, color, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, or age as relevant factors when considering applicants for residency positions.

Interviews are scheduled beginning in October. Applications must be complete with all documents by October 31. A complete application includes the ERAS application, numerical USMLE scores, curriculum vitae, personal statement, dean's letter, official transcript, and three letters of recommendation.
