Adult Congenital Patient
Divina McCleaf was born and raised in the Philippines and moved to the U.S. when she was in her 20s. It was during her late 20s that she needed to be hospitalized for difficulty breathing. Doctors at a local hospital diagnosed her with a heart condition and sent her to the University of Maryland Medical Center to be seen by adult congenital heart experts Dr. Sunjay Kaushal and Dr. Stacy Fisher.
Divina had no had idea that she had been living with a hole in her heart since birth, known as a congenital heart condition. Dr. Sunjay Kaushal performed two operations to repair her heart. Cardiologist Dr. Stacy Fisher, who also specializes in adult congenital heart disease, provided Divina's medical care before and after the surgeries. Today, Divina is regaining weight she lost due to her heart condition and is looking for a job now that she's healthy enough to work.
