Signs of Abuse

  • Highly emotional behavior
    • Withdrawn behavior
    • Angry outbursts
    • Depression
  • Nightmares or other sleeping difficulties
  • Drastic changes in eating patterns
  • Not wanting to be left alone with particular individual(s)
  • Recurring urinary problems
  • Unusual clinginess
  • Spacing out at odd times
  • Reverting to more childish behaviors (e.g., thumb-sucking, bedwetting, etc.)
  • Sexual language, knowledge, and/or behavior inappropriate for the child's age
