Edem Binka, M.D.
Medical School: Vanderbilt University School of Medicine
A little about myself. . .
I was born and raised in Accra, Ghana. I am the middle child with two other sisters. I moved to the United States in 2004 to attend Vassar College and majored in Physics. After college, I attended Vanderbilt Medical School in Nashville, TN. I took a year off between my third and fourth year at Vanderbilt to conduct research in Durban, South Africa. I am excited (and a little nervous) to start my Pediatrics residency training at University of Maryland. I’m glad to be back in the North East and only a short plane/train/bus ride away from my sisters, my aunt & nieces and college buddies in New England. I am also looking forward to getting acquainted with the much-talked-about ethnic and seafood venues in Baltimore. Fortunately, my girlfriend will be around to explore Baltimore with me as she’s also starting her General Surgery residency program here at University of Maryland.
My outside interests include playing soccer, tennis and watching live sports events. I also enjoy salsa dancing and a bit of rock climbing.
