A little about myself. . .

I come from a medical family, with a Mom who is a physician and Dad who works in dental public health. I was born in New Hampshire during my Mom's Pediatric residency. My family moved to North Carolina for her fellowship in Neonatology, where my brother Michael was born. As a family we moved to Gaithersburg, MD when I was eleven, and this is where I consider home. In sixth grade I met my future husband, Jordan. I was always drawn to sciences, but also participated in music programs throughout school. I went to University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) for undergrad, where I completed the Interdisciplinary Studies Program in a major I developed myself called The Cultural Interpretation of Sickness, a combination of biology and medical anthropology.

I went to medical school here in Baltimore at the University of Maryland School of Medicine, and loved it so much I decided to stay here for residency. Truly, I met some of the most amazing people I have ever worked with, and found a place that is supportive, encouraging and mentally stimulating. I am fortunate to now be a part of the Pediatric Residency program here at UMMC.

I became certified in PADI Open Water SCUBA in high school, and continued training through the level of a PADI Divemaster. I taught scuba diving in college at a local dive center. Since medical school I have been unable to teach, but continue to dive recreationally (when I can) with my family all over the east coast and Caribbean. (My favorite dive site in the world is Bonaire.) I also enjoy movies, art and reading. Currently, I live with my husband Jordan in Ridgely's Delight, a historic neighborhood here in Baltimore. He is completing training at University of Maryland Dental School, and plans on completing a Geriatric and Special Patient Care fellowship. I am still figuring out where my career path will lead and enjoying the journey. Either way, we both love Maryland and hope to eventually live and practice here.

Please contact me if you have any questions about Maryland's Pediatric Residency Program, applying to residency in general, or living life here in Baltimore.
