A little about myself. . .
I grew up in Houston, Texas, and attended college at Washington and Lee University in Lexington, VA, where I graduated with a BA in English. From there, I moved to Washington, DC, with my now-husband, Matt. After entering the “real world,” I realized that medicine is my true calling and entered the Georgetown Post-Bacc Pre-Med Program to obtain my med school prerequisites. After that, I was privileged to be accepted to the University of Maryland School of Medicine. In my fourth year of medical school, I had my son, Geordy, who makes life fun, playful, and interesting and keeps my husband and I on our toes!
While a student at Maryland, I thrived off the school’s highly supportive, collegial atmosphere and met many friends, mentors, and teachers who left indelible impressions on my future practice. I have always loved the way Maryland equally prioritizes character, teaching, and clinical acumen in the practice of medicine, and I was thrilled to match here. I chose Med-Peds because it pairs the cheer and resilience of children with the intriguing complexity of adult Medicine. I ultimately strive for a career in combined Med-Peds Rheumatology, so that I may help fulfill the need for Pediatric Rheumatologists while also caring for patients with unique and often complex illnesses throughout the entirety of their lives.
