Mary Eckerle, M.D.
Class of 2017
Undergraduate: University of Virginia
Medical School: Indiana University School of Medicine
I grew up in Columbus, Indiana and moved to Virginia for my undergrad at University of Virginia. After college, I went to Cameroon with the Peace Corps where I spent three years. I returned to Indiana for medical school at Indiana University.
I was attracted to University of Maryland’s Med Peds program in particular due to its emphasis on mentorship, the global health pathway, and variety of clinical sites. I’m really excited to be in Baltimore. It is extremely affordable for a city on the east coast, and there is no shortage of things to do. In my spare time I like to run with my dog, Juju, go on hikes, and try new restaurants. I’m not sure what I want to do with my life after med peds, but I knew this program could prepare me for virtually any career path. My interests include academic medicine and global health.
