Class of 2014
Fares Brnouti, M.D.
Fares was born in Aleppo, Syria. He studied at the University of Aleppo, Syria where he became the third top student in the rank list of November session of the 2002/2003 graduation year. He completed his residency at St. Joseph Hospital and Medical Center in Paterson, New Jersey. Currently, he is in his third year of fellowship working on his research project “Administration of DHA partially ameliorates alterations in brain chemistry caused by prenatal exposure to ethanol.”
Finney George, M.D.
Finney was born in Flushing, NY. He completed his pediatric residency at St. Johns Hospital in Springfield, IL. In his final year of fellowship, Finney is working to complete his research on “Postnatal DHA can ameliorate the effects of prenatal ethanol exposure.”
Kemi Mascoll-Robertson, M.B.B.S.
Kemi was born in Bridgetown, Barbados. She earned her M.B.,B.S. at the University of the West Indies where she was a recipient of the prestigious Dr. Harry and Ann Bayley Memorial Prize for the Best Clinical Performance in the Final Medicine (OSCE) Examination, M.B.B.S 2004. Kemi completed her pediatric residency at Flushing Hospital in NY. While in her final year of fellowship, Kemi’s research project involves “The Objective Use of Pulse Oximetry to Predict Respiratory Support Needs in Preterm Infants”.
Marcela Merchan, M.D.
Marcela was born in Medellin, Columbia and completed her pediatric residency at Elmhurst Hospital Center/Mount Sinai School of Medicine, New York. Her current research project is “Azithromycin to prevent bronchopulmonary dysplasia in ureaplasma infected preterm babies.”

Bushra Saleem, M.D.
Bushra was born in Karachi, Pakistan, where she began her astounding path towards becoming a physician at Sindh Medical School. In America, she was honorably involved in conducting research in celiac disease at the University of Maryland. She is a second year fellow in Neonatology.
Adia Stokes, M.D.
Adia was born in Baltimore, Maryland. She completed her pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in California. Adia’s research project and interests involve neonatal sleep, aEEG, sound in the NICU and neurodevelopment.

Temi Akinmboni, M.D.
Temi was born in Lagos, Nigeria and attended medical school at the University of Lagos. She completed her pediatric residency at Brookdale University and Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York. Temi’s research interest is neuroprotective effects of choline/DHA.
Jennifer Alexander, M.D.
Jennifer was born in Reston, Virginia. She completed medical school at The George Washington University and pediatric residency at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, PA. Jennifer was awarded the Bill & Melinda Gates/Negro College Fund National Scholar. Her research interest is neonatal pain medicine, specifically investigating the effect of procedural pain medicine on long-term behavioral outcomes.
Eric Ly, M.D.
Eric was born in Falls Church, Virginia. He earned his MD at the Ross University School of Medicine, Dominica and relocated to Baltimore to complete his pediatric residency at Sinai Hospital. Eric is researching the effects of choline in the treatment of bilirubin.
