across the street from the main hospital.

Take a walk to the Inner Harbor
Go right out of the main entrance, and turn left at Lombard St. On your left
will be Davidge Hall and the construction site on your right is the site of
the new ambulatory care center.
Take a look to your left when you reach the corner of Paca St. The buildings
you see constitute the Loft
Historic District. The district is architecturally significant
for the massive, brick vertical manufactories that date from 1870 to 1915. At
the turn of the century, Baltimore was a national leader in the manufacture
of ready-to-wear clothes, and this area housed many of the factories.
As you continue along Lombard towards Eutaw, look up to see the Bromo-Seltzer
Tower, officially known as the Baltimore Arts Tower. When it was
originally constructed in 1911, it was topped by a giant, lighted, revolving
replica of a blue Bromo-Seltzer bottle. Unfortunately, this had to be removed
in 1936 because of structural concerns.
Take a right on Eutaw St. Straight ahead you will see Camden station, the B
& O Railroad's historic station which has recently been completely renovated.
It now contains the Sports Legends Museum and acts as a gateway to Camden Yards,
the Baltimore Orioles stadium. Go two blocks to the station if you like, or
turn left after one block onto Pratt St. Continue on Pratt St to the Inner Harbor
(approximately 15 minutes one way, but add extra time for exploring the Harbor).
Other walking tours of
the area are available on-line.
Baseball fans might consider scheduling an interview in April. The Orioles
stadium is within walking distance of the medical center, but be
prepared for cool evening weather early in the season. If attending a game isn't
an option, visit the Sports Legends Museum at Camden Yards or the Babe
Ruth Birthplace Museum, both within walking distance of the UMB
