Surgery Patients with Appropriate Hair Removal

When hair removal is necessary for a surgical procedure to be performed, hospital staff should use electric clippers or a hair removal cream to eliminate excess hair. Shaving a patient's hair with a razor is an inappropriate hair removal method.

The chart below shows the percentage of UMMC patients whose hair was removed for a surgical procedure in a safe and effective manner as compared to the national average.
