Adult Smoking Cessation
Smoking has been linked to heart failure. It harms the heart, lungs and blood vessels and makes existing heart disease worse. Heart failure patients should be given advice about stopping smoking while they are in the hospital as quitting may help prevent future heart attacks.
The chart below shows the percentage of UMMC heart failure patients who were given smoking cessation advice/counseling as compared to the national average.
