Form Heart Healthy Eating Habits with Kids in the Summer

School is out and kids are captive learners at home! Parents and childcare providers can use this precious season to educate kids on forming heart-healthy eating habits. Here are some ways to introduce kids to heart-healthy foods this summer when nature's finest is available for the picking!

  • Visit a local farmer's market and ask kids to try one new vegetable each week
  • Volunteer at a community farm to learn where food comes from 
  • Take kids to a pick-your-own farm where they can pluck the best vegetables for themselves
  • For older kids, ask them to find new recipes online that feature summer produce and prepare those recipes together
