Robert F. Mitchell, Jr., Named New Associate Director for Administration of the Greenebaum Cancer Center

The University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center has announced the appointment of Robert F. Mitchell, Jr., as Associate Director for Administration. He assumes his new role on December 16, 2013, and will oversee the administrative and research-support activities of the cancer center.
Mitchell has extensive experience in research administration in both the clinical and basic science arenas. He has served in research administration oversight roles for the Department of Medicine, the Center for Stem Cell Research and Regenerative Medicine, the General Clinical Research Center, and the Department of Pharmacology and Experimental Therapeutics, among others. He has led large research applications, and has represented the University of Maryland as an NIH reviewer for nearly 12 years, most recently for the National Center for Advancing Translation Sciences.
"Bob has broad experience in research administration and has developed close working relationships with faculty and staff of each professional school here at UMB, as well as at the UMBC and College Park campuses. We are most fortunate to have someone of his background and experience in this critical position overseeing the research mission of our center," said Kevin Cullen, M.D., director of the Marlene and Stewart Greenebaum Cancer Center.
Mitchell attended Towson University, where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a dual major in Economics and Business Management. He resides in Bel Air.
