UMMC's Lisa Rowen and Marianne Rowan-Braun Among "Maryland's Top 100 Women" Named by the Daily Record
For immediate release: March 04, 2013
Two exceptional leaders at the University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) have been named to The Daily Record's list of "Maryland’s Top 100 Women" for 2013.
Lisa Rowen, D.N.Sc., R.N., Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer, and Marianne Rowan-Braun, Vice President and Director of the Campaign for Shock Trauma, were selected by an outside panel of business leaders based on professional accomplishment, community involvement and commitment to mentoring.
Having received this honor two previous times, Lisa Rowen now also becomes a "Circle of Excellence" inductee.
"UMMC is privileged to have Lisa and Marianne among us. Every day, they demonstrate a commitment to excellence that inspires all of us to provide the best care for our patients and evolve the Medical Center for future success," says UMMC President and CEO Jeffrey A. Rivest. "We are pleased that the broader community echoes the high esteem we hold for these individuals."
This year, The Daily Record received more than 500 nominations solicited from economic development agencies, women's organizations, chambers of commerce and the business community at large.
A panel of judges composed of business professionals and past Top 100 Women winners from throughout Maryland reviewed all of the applications, narrowing the list to select this year's Top 100 Women. The process is comprehensive and includes multiple panels judging hundreds of worthy applicants to find the best Maryland has to offer.
"As Maryland's Top 100 Women celebrates its 18th anniversary, all of us at The Daily Record continue to be proud and honored to present this important event that recognizes the many ways women contribute to a vibrant Maryland," says Daily Record Publisher Suzanne Fischer-Huettner. "We commend all of our past winners and are proud to recognize our Top 100 Women of 2013."
The women will be honored at a Top 100 Women event on May 6, 2013, at the Meyerhof Symphony Hall in Baltimore.
