Mental Health

Emotional and mental disorders can be treated or controlled, but only one in five people who have these disorders seek help, and only 4-15 percent of children suffering mental illnesses receive appropriate treatment. It is vital that Americans know that help is available, because anyone, no matter what age, economic status, or race, can develop a mental disorder.

As many as eight in ten people suffering from mental disorders can effectively return to normal, productive lives if they receive appropriate treatment -- treatment which is readily available. Psychiatrists and other mental health professionals can offer their patients a wide variety of effective treatments.

At University of Maryland Medicine, our psychiatrists, psychologists, and other mental health and behavioral therapists offer comprehensive care for those suffering from mental, emotional, or learning disorders.
