Overview

How long should a student athlete be kept from playing a sport after sustaining a concussion? Which sports put student athletes most at risk of a brain injury? How can we make playing sports safer for young athletes?

In this interview, Dr. Eugenio Rocksmith, assistant professor of neurology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine and attending physician in the Brain Injury Unit at the University of Maryland Rehabilitation & Orthopaedic Institute, talks about improving sports safety and treating concussions and other head injuries, especially in younger athletes. He is joined by John Bielawski, director of outreach for University of Maryland Sports Medicine.
