Patient Success Story- Marvin Jones
In this three minute video, 27-year-old Marvin Jones shares his story as a testicular cancer survivor. He is joined by his mother, Sophia Jones, and his surgeon, Dr. Andrew Kramer. His treatment team at the University of Maryland Greenebaum Cancer Center also included medical oncologist Dr. Arif Hussain and vascular surgeon Dr. Rajabrata Sarkar.
As Dr. Kramer explains, testicular cancer often affects young men and can present as a painless mass in the testicle. Following surgery to remove Marvin's affected testicle and after several rounds of chemotherapy, tests revealed that his cancer had metastasized, or spread, to his abdomen. He underwent a delicate, six-hour operation to remove a football-sized tumor that had grown around several major blood vessels. He made a dramatic recovery and is now cancer-free.
