Shock Trauma Center for Injury Prevention and Policy Debuts Video in Partnership with Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration
The R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center's Center for Injury Prevention and Policy and the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration recently debuted a new video for Drivers Education in Maryland aimed at curbing distracted driving. The video, "GET THE MESSAGE" will now be included as part of the Maryland driver education curriculum. This dramatic, realistic video focuses on the dangers of distracted driving, a significant problem for drivers across the State. The video was created through a collaboration between the Maryland Motor Vehicle Administration and the R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center's Center for Injury Prevention and Policy at the University of Maryland.
The video realistically demonstrates how quickly a young person's life of joy can become horrific in an instant. Passenger restrictions and cell phone laws are in place to protect everyone on the roads as new drivers take on an enormous responsibility behind the wheel. The vision of the Center for Injury Prevention and Policy is to put an end to preventable injuries for Maryland citizens. This initiative is part of a defined partnership with the community, school systems, legislators, and businesses.
