Sister and Brother Participate in Longest Kidney Swap Chain in US History

The University of Maryland participated in the longest paired kidney exchange (PKE) in U.S. history in March. The chain, facilitated by the National Kidney Registry, included 35 recipients and 35 living kidney donors and was featured in a special report on ABC Nightline.

LaTwanya Goslee donated a kidney in honor of her brother, Charles Muse. They were not a match for her to donate to him directly, so they entered the PKE program at the University of Maryland Medical Center. Her kidney went to a recipient in Pennsylvania, and Charles' kidney came from a donor in South Carolina.

This video follows LaTwanya on the day of her donation surgery at UMMC and explains how this brother/sister pair became part of this history-making chain
