UMMC First in State to Perform Liver Transplant for Treatment of Cholangiocarcinoma
Cholangiocarcinoma is a rare yet lethal cancer of the bile duct. The University of Maryland Medical Center became the first hospital in Maryland to treat a patient with this type of cancer by performing a liver transplant. Dr. Steven Hanish, transplant surgeon and director of hepatobiliary surgery, explains the treatment in this video. The patient, Mr. Nathaniel Brunson, shares his personal story in a separate video.
