Direct Anterior Approach to Hip Replacement
In this video, University of Maryland Orthopaedic Surgeon Theodore Manson M.D. talks about the direct anterior approach to hip replacement which has grown in popularity. With this approach, the hip joint is approached from the front of the patient instead of the side and surgeons are able to install parts more accurately, knowing the implants are in the correct position. Patients recover more quickly and the new technology/plastics used inside the replacements last longer.
