Margaret Martins suffered from a life-threatening form of pulmonary hypertension known as secondary pulmonary hypertension. From an emergency room in a Washington D.C. hospital, she was transferred to the University of Maryland Medical Center after her doctors did an Internet search to find someone who could perform a Pulmonary Thromboendarterectomy.
