Vértebras torácicas (parte media de la espalda)

Éstas son las doce vértebras de la parte media de la espalda. La última vértebra (a la izquierda de la fotografía) se une a la columna lumbar (inferior) y la primera vértebra (a la derecha) se une al segmento cervical de la espalda (cuello). Las vértebras son más anchas y fuertes que los huesos cervicales, lo cual les permite absorber la presión adicional que se aplica sobre la espalda media, pero, a pesar de ello, a menudo se presentan lesiones en esta área. Estas vértebras se numeran del uno al doce y se conocen como T1, T2, T3, etc., empezando desde la primera de arriba, para abajo.
