La varicela es una enfermedad viral aguda que se presenta en los niños pequeños. Es producida por un virus herpes denominado varicela zoster. Los síntomas son, entre otros, fiebre, malestar general y una erupción que comienza con pequeñas protuberancias de color rojo (pápulas) que se llenan rápidamente con líquido para formar pequeñas ampollas o vesículas.
