Stent de arteria coronaria

El "stent" o cánula intraluminal de arteria coronaria es un pequeño tubo de malla de acero autoexpandible que se coloca dentro de la arteria coronaria para mantener el vaso dilatado. Puede utilizarse durante una cirugía para injerto de una derivación (bypass, en inglés) para mantener dilatado el vaso injertado, después de una angioplastia con balón para prevenir que el vaso sanguíneo vuelva a cerrarse o durante otras cirugías del corazón.
