Sistema linfático

El sistema linfático filtra líquido proveniente de los alrededores de las células. Éste es parte importante del sistema inmunológico. Cuando las personas se refieren a glándulas inflamadas en el cuello, por lo general, están hablando de los ganglios linfáticos inflamados. Las áreas más comunes en donde los ganglios linfáticos pueden palparse con facilidad, especialmente cuando se agrandan, son: la ingle, las axilas, por encima de la clavícula (área supraclavicular), en el cuello (área cervical) y en la parte posterior de la cabeza, por encima de la línea del cabello (área occipital).
