Rabia

El sistema nervioso central está compuesto por el cerebro y la médula espinal. La función del primero es recibir los impulsos nerviosos de la médula espinal y los nervios craneanos, mientras que la segunda contiene los nervios que transportan los mensajes entre el cerebro y el cuerpo. El virus de la rabia se disemina a través de los nervios del cerebro y la médula espinal, causando primero síntomas similares a la gripe, como fiebre y malestar. A medida que la enfermedad avanza, causa ansiedad, confusión, disfunción cerebral, progresando a alucinaciones, delirio e insomnio. Si la rabia no recibe tratamiento casi siempre es mortal.
