Pericarditis constrictiva

La pericarditis es un trastorno causado por inflamación del pericardio, el saco que recubre al corazón. El engrosamiento o contractura progresiva del pericardio hace que éste pierda elasticidad, lo cual impide su dilatación y hace que se produzca una disminución en el llenado de las cámaras del corazón. En consecuencia, se reduce la cantidad de la sangre que el corazón bombea y hay retorno de la sangre hacia la parte posterior de éste, lo cual produce síntomas de insuficiencia cardíaca. La pericarditis constrictiva puede comprometer la vida de no tratarse a tiempo.
