La prueba de respuesta auditiva evocada del tronco del encéfalo (RAETE) se realiza para diagnosticar anomalías del sistema nervioso, pérdidas auditivas (especialmente en niños de bajo peso al nacer) y para evaluar las funciones neurológicas. La prueba se enfoca en los cambios y respuestas de las ondas cerebrales. Las ondas cerebrales son estimuladas por un sonido de golpecito seco con el fin de evaluar los trayectos auditivos centrales del tronco del encéfalo.
