Miocarditis

Es una inflamación y debilidad del músculo cardíaco generalmente causada por una infección viral que alcanza el corazón, como el virus de la influenza (gripe), el virus de Coxsackie y el adenovirus. La miocarditis puede dañar el músculo cardíaco haciendo que éste se vuelva grueso e hinchado, lo cual lleva a síntomas de insuficiencia cardíaca. La miocarditis también puede ocurrir durante o después de otras infecciones virales o bacterianas como la polio, la rubéola, la enfermedad de Lyme y otras.
