Leucomalacia periventricular

Es un tipo de lesión cerebral que representa realmente pequeños "agujeros" en el cerebro, debido a la muerte de áreas pequeñas de tejido cerebral alrededor de las cavidades cerebrales normales llenas de líquido. Esta afección con frecuencia está asociada con la presencia de problemas neurológicos y del desarrollo en los bebés que están creciendo, generalmente durante el primero al segundo año de vida.
