Herpes zoster

La culebrilla o herpes zoster es una condición causada por el mismo virus que causa la varicela. El virus puede permanecer inactivo en el cuerpo durante muchos años y luego emerger de nuevo como culebrilla. Esta condición aparece como una erupción dolorosa y consiste en parches rojos de piel con pequeñas ampollas (vesículas) muy similares a las de la varicela en sus primeras etapas. La culebrilla usualmente desaparece en dos o tres semanas y casi nunca recurre.
