Frotis de Papanicolaou y cáncer cervical

El frotis de Papanicolaou consiste tanto en una inspección visual como en un cultivo del cuello uterino. Con un instrumento llamado espéculo se mantienen separadas las paredes de la vagina para poder observar el cuello uterino y con un hisopo se obtiene una muestra de sus células para someterlas a cultivo y análisis.
