Fístulas anorrectales

La enfermedad de Crohn es una inflamación de los intestinos causada por la respuesta inmunológica ante la infección. El recubrimiento intestinal se puede ulcerar y formar canales de infección que se denominan fístulas, las cuales forman túneles desde el área de ulceración, lo que crea un hueco que puede continuar hasta que alcanza la superficie del órgano o la superficie cercana a la piel. Estos huecos con frecuencia diseminan la infección que los crea y pueden presentarse condiciones que ponen en peligro la vida como la peritonitis (inflamación del recubrimiento abdominal).
