Examen de fluoresceína en el ojo

El examen de fluoresceína es útil para determinar si hay escarificación u otro problema en la superficie de la córnea. También se puede usar para detectar cuerpos extraños en la superficie del ojo y determinar si hay lesión o infección. El examen se realiza administrando un colorante a la superficie de ojo. Después de que el colorante ha cubierto completamente el ojo, éste se ilumina con una luz azul de cobalto. Esta luz hace que el colorante arroje una luz verde. Si existen anomalías en el epitelio de la córnea, esa región será coloreada.
